REGISTRATION for 2009:
USA Swimming registration for 2009 will begin on
ATHLETE MEMBERSHIP
For 2009 all athlete registrations forms and fees must be submitted to the club registration chairman. The club registration chairman will then forward the forms with a club check to the New England Swimming office. This year the athlete membership forms will tell applicants to make checks to “your club” and mail forms to “your club.” Unattached swimmers will register directly with the New England Swimming office and may use personal checks.

OUTREACH MEMBERSHIP: Swimmers who receive free lunch at school are eligible for a membership at a reduced fee. The membership application must be accompanied by a letter from the swimmer’s school verifying that the swimmer is receiving free lunch.

Membership cards for unattached swimmers will be mailed to their homes. All other cards will go to the clubs to be distributed to the swimmers.

TO BE REGISTERED AS A COACH MEMBER: All coaches must have current cards for First Aid, CPR, and Safety Training for Swim Coaches (or Lifeguard Training) and also complete the USA Swimming background screen. COPIES of both sides of cards for the three courses must accompany all coach applications unless current cards are on file in the office. Otherwise, a non-athlete, non-coach card will be issued. The first Aid, CPR, STFSC, and background screen expiration dates will appear on the registration card. The earliest of the expiration dates will also appear on the front of the coach membership card. When a certificate is expiring, the office needs up to two weeks to issue a new card.
NEW THIS YEAR: All coaches who need to complete the safety training requirement or renew it are requires to complete the online Safety Training for Swim Coaches test. For additional information, and to take the test, go to www.usaswimming.org/coaches; click on Education/Safety Requirements, then on Safety Training for Swim Coaches Test. Print the confirmation email when you pass the test. Submit this to the NE office with the required lifeguard card
Coaches who were registered for the first time after September 1, 1998 must complete the education requirement before they can reregister for 2009. The test is now on the USA Swimming web site: www.usaswimming.org. New England Swimming requires that all coaches display their cards when on deck at meets.

TO BE REGISTERED AS AN OFFICIAL: NEW THIS YEAR: Officials no longer need to send a copy of their officials’ certification card when they submit their 2009 application for registration. The one exception is new officials who may apply for the “official” notation on their card and their patch when they have completed their apprenticeship. They need to submit a copy of both sides of their blue card to the office. New England Swimming requires that all officials display their cards on deck at meets. Registration forms will not be sent to non-athletes this year but will be available through the club and on the web site.

NOTE: The Family Fee ($100) is a non-athlete fee and does not include swimmers.
CLUB MEMBERSHIP
Clubs that registered for the first time for 2008 are reminded that they must complete the Club Leadership and Business Management School before they reregister for 2009. The Head Coach must complete ASCA Level 2 Stroke School and ASCA Level 3 Physiology School before the club reregisters for 2009.
FEE: $200 before 12/1/2008 (or a new club at any time); $250 after 12/1/2008
