MEET FORMAT: The meet will be swum as timed-finals.  Each session will be seeded by computer based on positive check-in at the beginning of each session.  Coaches will receive a positive check-in sheet before each session, which must be returned no later than 30 minutes before the beginning of the session.  Heat sheets will be posted around the pool deck.  Coaches will be able to pick up heat sheets for each event at the control office.

 

SITE: The St. Georgs’s School Hoyt Pool is an 8-lane, 25-yard pool with seven-foot-wide lanes and non-turbulent lane lines.  Fully-automatic Daktronics Time Systems electronic timing with touchpads at the finish end of the pool with single-line electronic display.  There are no touchpads at the turn end of the pool.  The finish end of the pool is 13 feet deep; the turn end of the pool is 4 feet deep.  Spectator seating for 250.  The Pool is located in the  St.George’s school Athletic Complex located on the St. George’s School campus.  Directions may be found later in this document. 

 

COURSE: Short course yards (25 yards).

 

EVENTS and SESSIONS: See attached list.

 

ELIGIBILITY: All contestants must be 2007 or 2008  USA Swimming registered athletes.  All swimmers must be registered before the entry is submitted.  Teams that enter unregistered swimmers will be subject to a fine of $100 per unregistered swimmer.  New England teams entering the meet are required to check their entries with the online registration check tool on the New England Swimming web site.  Please contact the New England Swimming Office for registration information. ENTRY INFORMATION: Entries will be accepted on and after November 23, 2007.  Entries received before November 23, 2007 will be considered received on November 23, 2007.  Entries must be received no later than December 15, 2007.  Make checks payable to “Rams Swimming Club”.  Mail completed forms (including signed entry cover page and waiver) and payment to the entry chairperson:  Matt Emmert, 32 Briarwood Ave, Middletown, RI 02842.  All entries must be typed or printed legibly, and must use full names and registration numbers from USA Swimming registration.  All entries must include a completed and signed entry cover sheet and waiver.  No deck entries will be accepted.  No refunds will be given for entries that are accepted, or for entries that are rejected due to improper entry.  Any swimmer who is entered with incorrect swimmer information, or an incorrect or no ID, or is unregistered, will be scratched from the meet until corrections are made per the New England policy. Rams Swimming Club will limit the number of swims in the meet to 1,900..

 

ELECTRONIC ENTRIES: Electronic entries (such as from Hy-Tek Team Manager or other team management software) that are in CL2 or SD3/SDIF format may be emailed as an attachment to the entry chairperson at bobsmith@email.com.  Please check that your team name, address, and contact information are listed correctly in this file.  For email entries, payment and hardcopy of the entry (including signed entry cover page and waiver) must be received within four (4) days, excluding Sundays and holidays, of receipt of the email entry.  If payment is received within four (4) days, excluding Sundays and holidays, of the email entry, the email receipt date will be considered the date of entry.  If payment is received more than four (4) days, excluding Sundays and holidays, after the email entry, the payment receipt date will be considered the date of entry.

 

ENTRY LIMITS: Athletes may enter and swim in a maximum of  5 events per day.

 

ENTRY TIME UPATES: Entry times may be updated until 7 days prior to the first day of the meet.  No new entries will be accepted after the December 15, 2007 entry deadline.  Entry time updates should be sent via email to the entry chairperson at swimrams@cox.net Entry time updates must be sent as Hy-Tek format CL2 files with updated times.  (New entries will be automatically excluded.)

 

ENTRY FEES: Electronic entries: $4.00 for individual events, $5.00 for distance event, $16.00 for relays.  Non-electronic entries: $4.50 for individual events, $5.50 for distance events, $20.00 for relays.  $5 per athlete swimmer surcharge.

 

ENTRY TIMES: All entries must be specified in short-course yard (25-yard pool) times.  Meter times must be converted to yard times. (Entries with “NO TIME” will be rejected.)

 

RELAYS: No relay limit per team.  All relay swimmers must be officially entered in the meet.

 

25-YARD EVENTS: 25-yard events will start at the turn end of the pool.  There are no starting blocks at the turn end of the pool.  Swimmers will dive in from the wall.

 

PROGRAMS: $3.00 per session.

 

ADMISSION: $1.00 per session.

 

WARMUPS: The pool will open for warm-ups one-hour before the beginning of each session.  The pool will close five minutes before the beginning of each session.  Teams will be assigned warm-up lanes after all entries are received.

 

SAFETY:

 

  1. Diving will be prohibited during warm-ups except in specifically announced one-way sprint lanes.  There will be no diving in the warmup and warmdown areas at any time
  2. No shaving is permitted at the competition site.
  3. No glass containers are permitted within the facility.
  4. Swimmers must be under the supervision of a coach.  If a swimmer arrives at the meet without a coach, the swimmer should notify the referee before he/she warms up.  The referee will assign the swimmer to a registered coach for warm-ups.
  5. No camera cell phones are permitted in the locker rooms.

 

RULES: 2007 USA Swimming rules will govern all competition.  Decisions by the meet referee will be final unless a written protest is lodged within 30 minutes of the heat swum.

 

TIME TRIALS: Time trials will be offered at the discretion of the meet referee if time allows.  Time trials are $5.00 for individual events and $20.00 for relays.

 

DECK ACCESS: Only athletes, coaches, officials, and official meet staff are permitted on the pool deck.  All non-athletes on the pool deck must display their USA Swimming registration card at all times.  Individuals without their USA Swimming registration card will be removed from the pool deck, and will be subject to a fine by New England Swimming.

 

SCORING:  The meet will be scored as a combined team score total by each individual age group: 8&u, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, and Open.

Awards:  There will be a trophy awarded to the team with the highest overall points.  No awards or ribbons will be handed out to individuals. 

 

FOOD: A concession stand will be in operation for the duration of the meet.

 

MISCELLANEOUS: Rams Swimming Club assumes no responsibility for lost or stolen property.  Pets of any kind and smoking are not permitted within the facility.

 

PARKING: There is limited parking available in the parking lot adjacent to the St. George’s School Athletic Complex, so the the field adjacent to that lot will be used for more parking.

1. Southeast Expressway (Route 3) South
2. Route 93/128 South
3. Leave 93 South at Exit 4 onto Route 24 South, toward Fall River
4. Route 195 West at Fall River (briefly, about ¼ mile)
5. Route 24 South again, across Sakonnet River Bridge in Tiverton
6. Leave Route 24 South at Turnpike Avenue exit for Route 138 South (Middletown and Newport Beaches)
7. Right on Turnpike Avenue to end
8. Right at light onto Route 138 South
9. Follow 138 about 6.7 miles into Middletown to Route 214 (Valley Road)
10. Take a left at traffic light between Wendy's and Shell gas station onto Valley Road
11. Follow Valley Road for 1.5 miles through two lights
12. At the third light, turn left in front of The Atlantic Beach Club
13. Proceed up hill; the main entrance gate to St. George's is on the left just over the crest of the hill; there are tennis courts on both sides of the road.

1. Route 95 South
2. Route 4 South

4. Route 138 East
5. You will go over two bridges as you proceed on Route 138
6. Take first exit off the second bridge (marked Scenic Downtown Newport)
7. Take right at foot of exit ramp, go through first light, turn right at second light onto America's Cup Avenue.
8. Follow America's Cup Avenue through Newport (waterfront)
9. With The Red Parrot Restaurant on your right, road will bear left up hill and become Memorial Boulevard
10. Follow Memorial Boulevard for two miles, passing beach on right
11. Leave Route 138A at The Atlantic Beach Club and continue straight up the hill on Purgatory Road.
12. You will see a number of entrances to the school on your left. The main entrance gate (the third gate) is just over the crest of the hill; there are tennis courts on both sides of the road.
