MEET FORMAT: The meet will be swum as timed-finals.  Each session will be seeded by computer based on positive check-in at the beginning of each session.  Coaches will receive a positive check-in sheet before each session, which must be returned no later than 45 minutes before the beginning of each session.  Open age groups will swim in the morning sessions while the 12&under age groups will swim in the afternoons.  All age groups will be swum in a combined heats separated only by gender.  There will be no bullpen.  All swimmers are to report directly to their lane when their event is called.  Swimmers and coaches are responsible for ensuring their swimmers are in the correct heat and lane. Heat sheets will be posted around the deck, and coaches will be given copies also.

 

SITE: McDermott Pool is a 6-lane, 50-meter pool with non-turbulent lane lines. Fully-automatic Colorado Time Systems electronic timing system with touchpads at the finish end of the pool with single-line electronic display.  There are no touchpads at the turn end of the pool. The finish end of the pool is 10.5 feet deep; the turn end of the pool is 3.5 feet deep.  Spectator seating inside is very limited.  There are two very large outdoor patio cement decks.  Lawn chairs and tents are welcomed.  The pool is located at the McDermott Complex, 975 Sandy Lane, Warwick, RI 02889.  The pool is located at the rear of the front parking lot.  Directions may be found later in this document. 

 

COURSE: 6 lane Long Course Meters (50 meters).

 

EVENTS and SESSIONS: See attached list.

 

ELIGIBILITY: All contestants must be 2005 USA Swimming registered athletes.  All swimmers must be registered before the entry is submitted.  Teams that enter unregistered swimmers will be subject to a fine of $100 per unregistered swimmer.  New England teams entering the meet are encouraged to check their entries with the online registration check tool on the New England Swimming web site.  Please contact the New England Swimming Office for registration information. ENTRY INFORMATION: Entries will be accepted on and after May 6, 2005.  Entries received before May 6, 2005 will be considered received on May 6, 2005.  Entries must be received no later than June 10, 2005.  Make checks payable to “RAMS Booster Club”.  Mail completed forms (including signed entry cover page and waiver) and payment to: Ted Schneider, 61 Sir Michael Circle, West Kingston, RI 02892.  All entries must be typed or printed legibly, and must use full names and registration numbers from USA Swimming registration.  All entries must include a completed and signed entry cover sheet and waiver.  No deck entries will be accepted.  No refunds will be given for entries that are accepted, or for entries that are rejected due to improper entry.  Any swimmer who is entered with incorrect swimmer information, or an incorrect or no ID, or is unregistered, will be scratched from the meet until corrections are made per the New England policy.

 

ELECTRONIC ENTRIES: Electronic entries (such as from Hy-Tek Team Manager or other team management software) that are in CL2 or SD3/SDIF format may be e-mailed as an attachment to the entry chairperson Pam Watters at  JuneMeet@cox.net.  Please check that your team name, address, and contact information are listed correctly in this file.  For email entries, payment and hardcopy of the entry (including signed entry cover page and waiver) must be received within four (4) days, excluding Sundays and holidays, of receipt of the email entry.  If payment is received within four (4) days, excluding Sundays and holidays, of the email entry, the email receipt date will be considered the date of entry.  If payment is received more than four (4) days, excluding Sundays and holidays, after the email entry, the payment receipt date will be considered the date of entry.

 

ENTRY LIMITS: Athletes may enter and swim in a maximum of 5 individual events per day.  Relays are being offered and will be swum at the end of each session.  Relay swimmers must have swum in at least one individual event during that session to compete.  Note, relays do not count as an individual event.

 

ENTRY TIME UPATES: Entry times may be updated until 7 days prior to the first day of the meet.  No new entries will be accepted after the June 10, 2005 entry deadline.  Entry time updates should be sent via email to the entry chairperson at JuneMeet@cox.net. Entry time updates must be sent as Hy-Tek format CL2 files with updated times.  (New entries will be automatically excluded.)

 

ENTRY FEES: Electronic entries: $3.50 for individual events, $10.00 for relays.  Non-electronic entries: $4.00 for individual events, $10.50 for relays.  There is NO Swimmer Participation Fee for this meet.

 

ENTRY TIMES: All entries must be specified in long-course meters (50-meter pool) times.  Yard times must be converted to meter times.

 

ENTRY CUTS: Entry cuts, if necessary, will be made by the date of receipt.  Teams will be notified that they have been accepted or cut from the meet within seven days of receipt of entry.  If the meet becomes oversubscribed, a random selection of those entries received on the date the meet becomes oversubscribed will be conducted in accordance with New England Swimming guidelines.  Teams that are cut from the meet will have their entry fee returned within four days of being cut.

 

RELAYS: Please note that in the 12 & Under 200 Free Relay and 200 Medley Relay events the 2nd and 4th swimmers will have to start on the wall in the water due to the depth of the pool at the turn end.

 

50-METER EVENTS: 50-meter events will start from the starting blocks and will be hand held times.

 

PROGRAMS: $2.00 per session.

 

ADMISSION: $1.00 per session.

 

WARMUPS: The pool will open for warm-ups one-hour and 15 minutes prior to the beginning of each session. The pool will close for 15 minutes before the beginning of each session. Teams will be assigned warm-up lanes after all entries are received and posted on the website as well as e-mail notification to all entered teams.

 

SAFETY, BEHAVIOR and IMPORTANT RULES TO NOTE:

  1. Diving will be prohibited during warm-ups except in specifically announced one-way sprint lanes. 
  2. No shaving is permitted at the competition site.
  3. No glass containers are permitted within the facility.
  4. Swimmers must be under the supervision of a coach.  If a swimmer arrives at the meet without a coach, the swimmer should notify the referee before he/she warms up.  The referee will assign the swimmer to a registered coach for warm-ups.
  5. No camera cell phones are permitted in the locker rooms.
  6. No smoking is permitted inside the building or patio areas.
  7. No alcoholic beverages are allowed on-site.
  8. No food is allowed in the pool area.

 

RULES: 2005 USA Swimming rules will govern all competition.  Decisions by the meet referee will be final unless a written protest is lodged within 30 minutes of the heat swum.

 

TIME TRIALS: Time trials will be offered at the discretion of the meet referee if time allows.  Time trials are $5.00 for individual event.

 

DECK ACCESS: Only athletes, coaches, officials, and official meet staff are permitted on the pool deck.  All non-athletes on the pool deck must display their USA Swimming registration card at all times.  Individuals without their USA Swimming registration card will be removed from the pool deck, and will be subject to a fine by New England Swimming.

 

SCORING: The meet will not be scored.

 

AWARDS: Ribbons will be awarded to the top six finishers in each individual event for 8&under, 9-10, and 11-12 age groups.

 

FOOD: A concession stand will be in operation for the duration of the meet.

 

MISCELLANEOUS: The RAMS Swim Club, the RAMS Booster Club, and the City of Warwick are not responsible for lost or stolen items.  Pets of any kind and smoking are not permitted within the facility.

 

PARKING: There is ample parking available in the parking lots in front of and behind the pool complex.

 

DIRECTIONS: From the North: Take 95 South into Rhode Island and get off at Exit 12A (Main Street) Route 113 East.  Follow Route 113 East until the end (Route 117).  Take a left at that light and bear to the left.  Take a left at the next light onto Sandy Lane.  The pool will be on the left approximately 300 feet after the light.  The pool is located at the back of the parking lot.  Additional parking is located around the back side of the pool.

 

LODGING: Numerous hotels are located in Warwick.  Hotels near TF Green Airport are closest to the pool.
