The 9-10 fifty yard events as well as the 100 free and 100 I.M. and 9-10 relays we would like to now open to
10 & unders as opposed to just 9-10's. This change affects event numbers:

21, 22, 29, 30,33, 34, 37, 38, 71, 72. 75,76, 79, 80, 87, 88, 91, 92.

MEET FORMAT: The meet will be swum as timed-finals.  Each session will be seeded by computer based on positive check-in at the beginning of each session.  Coaches will receive a positive check-in sheet before each session, which must be returned no later than 30 minutes before the beginning of the session.  Heat sheets will be posted around the pool deck.  Coaches will be able to pick up heat sheets for each event as soon as they are available.  The 400 IM, 500 Free and 1650 freestyle will be swum fast-to-slow, alternating heats of women and men.

 

SITE: The Balfour Natatorium is an 8-lane, 25-yard pool with seven-foot-wide lanes and non-turbulent lane lines. Fully automatic Colorado Time Systems electronic timing with touch-pads at the finish end of the pool with single-line electronic display.  There are no touch-pads at the turn end of the pool.  Attached to the main pool is a diving well area that is available for warm-up and warm-down, approximately 20x15 yards in size.  The finish end of the pool is 11 feet deep; the turn end of the pool is 9 feet deep.  Spectator seating is available for 350.  The pool is located inside the Haas Athletic Center on the Wheaton College Campus, 26 Main Street, Norton MA 02766.  Please enter through the main entrance on Howard Street.  Directions may be found later in this document. 

 

COURSE: Short course yards (25 yards).

ELIGIBILITY: All contestants must be 2003 USA Swimming registered athletes.  Please contact the New England Swimming Office for registration information. ENTRY INFORMATION: Entries will be accepted on and after September 15, 2003.  Entries received before September 15, 2003 will be considered received on September 15, 2003.  Entries must be received no later than September 24, 2003.  Make checks payable to “Everglades Trust”.  Mail completed forms (including signed entry cover page and waiver) and payment to the entry chairperson: Tim Ernst, 3 Middlesex Street, Wellesley, MA 02482.  All entries must be typed or printed legibly, and must use full names and registration numbers from USA Swimming registration.  All entries must include a completed and signed entry cover sheet and waiver.  No deck entries will be accepted.  No refunds will be given for entries that are accepted, or for entries that are rejected due to improper entry.

 

ELECTRONIC ENTRIES: Electronic entries (such as from Hy-Tek Team Manager or other team management software) that are in CL2 or SD3/SDIF format may be emailed as an attachment to the entry chairperson at tjernst@attbi.com.  Please check that your team name, address, and contact information are listed correctly in this file.  For email entries, payment and hardcopy of the entry (including signed entry cover page and waiver) must be received within four (4) days of receipt of the email entry.  If payment is received within four (4) days of the email entry, the email receipt date will be considered the date of entry.  If payment is received more than four (4) days after the email entry, the payment receipt date will be considered the date of entry.

 

ENTRY LIMITS: Athletes may enter and swim in a maximum of 5 events per day.

 

ENTRY TIME UPATES: Entry times may be updated through October 4, 2003 at 6:00pm.  No new entries will be accepted after the September 24, 2003 entry deadline.  Entry time updates should be sent via email to the entry chairperson at tjernst@attbi.com. Entry time updates must be sent as Hy-Tek format CL2 files with updated times.  (New entries will be automatically excluded.)

 

ENTRY FEES: Electronic entries: $3.50 for individual events, $10.00 for relays.  Non-electronic entries: $4.00 for individual events, $10.50 for relays.

 

ENTRY TIMES: All entries must be specified in short-course yard (25-yard pool) times.  Meter times must be converted to yard times. 

 

ENTRY CUTS: Entry cuts, if necessary, will be made by the date of receipt.  Teams will be notified that they have been accepted or cut from the meet within seven days of receipt of entry.  If the meet becomes oversubscribed, a random selection of those entries received on the date the meet becomes oversubscribed will be conducted in accordance with New England Swimming guidelines.  Teams that are cut from the meet will have their entry fee returned within four days of being cut.

 

RELAYS: Relays will be limited to two (2) relays per team per event.  All relay swimmers must be officially entered in the meet.

 

PROGRAMS: $5.00 for the weekend.

 

ADMISSION: $1.00 per session.

 

WARMUPS: The pool will open for warm-ups one-hour before the beginning of each session.  Diving will be prohibited during warm-ups except in specifically announced one-way sprint lanes.  There will be no diving in the warm-up and warm-down areas at any time.  The pool will close five minutes before the beginning of each session.  Teams will be assigned warm-up lanes after all entries are received. The diving well area will be available during the meet for warm-up and warm-down.

 

SHAVING: No shaving is permitted at the competition site.

 

RULES: 2003 USA Swimming rules will govern all competition.  Decisions by the meet referee will be final unless a written protest is lodged within 30 minutes of the heat swum.

 

TIME TRIALS: Time trials will not be offered.

 

DECK ACCSS: Only athletes, coaches, officials, and official meet staff are permitted on the pool deck.  All non-athletes on the pool deck must display their USA Swimming registration card at all times.  Individuals without their USA Swimming registration card will be removed from the pool deck, and will be subject to a fine by New England Swimming.

 

SCORING: The meet will not be scored.

 

AWARDS: Ribbons will be awarded to the top eight finishers in each individual event, and top three finishers in each relay event.

 

FOOD: A concession stand will be in operation for the duration of the meet.

 

EQUIPMENT VENDOR: A swimming equipment vendor will be selling suits, goggles, and other accessories for the duration of the meet.

 

MISCELLANEOUS: The Bernal Gators Swim Club assumes no responsibility for lost or stolen property.  No glass containers are permitted within the facility.  Pets of any kind and smoking are not permitted within the facility.

 

PARKING: Free parking is available in the parking lot next to the Haas Athletic Center and also in the lot across from the Athletic Center.

Providence, RI, in the northeastern United States. The college is
accessible by car from Interstate 95 and Interstate 495. Public
transportation connects Boston and Providence, and their airports, to
Wheaton.

From Boston and Northern New England
Take Interstate 95 south to Exit 6A, Route 495 south. Follow 495 to Exit 11,
turn onto 140 south. Follow Route 140 south 2.5 miles. Turn left at the
intersection of Routes 140 and 123. Proceed two-tenths of a mile east on
Route 123.  Take a right onto Howard Street (main entrance).  Turn left at the stop sign. The first parking lot on the right will be adjacent to the Haas Athletic Center.  If the lot is full, parking is available in the lot across from the Haas Athletic Center.

From Western Massachusetts
Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (Route 90) to Exit 11A onto Route 495 south.
Follow 495 to Exit 11, turn onto 140 south. Follow Route 140 south 2.5
miles. Turn left at the intersection of Routes 140 and 123. Proceed
two-tenths of a mile east on Route 123. Take a right onto Howard Street (main entrance).  Turn left at the stop sign. The first parking lot on the right will be adjacent to the Haas Athletic Center.  If the lot is full, parking is available in the lot across from the Haas Athletic Center.
 

From Providence and Southern New England
Take Interstate 95 north to Exit 6A. Follow Route 495 south to Exit 11, turn
onto 140 south. Follow Route 140 south 2.5 miles. Turn left at the
intersection of Routes 140 and 123. Proceed two-tenths of a mile east on

From Cape Cod
Take Route 495 north to Exit 10 Follow Route 123 west for 2.5 miles to
Wheaton College.  Take a left onto Howard Street (main entrance).  Turn left at the stop sign. The first parking lot on the right will be adjacent to the Haas Athletic Center.  If the lot is full, parking is available in the lot across from the Haas Athletic Center.
