MEET FORMAT: The meet will be swum as timed-finals.  Each session will be seeded by computer, based on positive check-in at the beginning of each session.  Coaches will receive a positive check-in sheet before each session, which must be returned no later than 30 minutes before the beginning of the session.  Heat sheets will be posted around the pool deck.  Coaches will be able to pick up heat sheets for each event at the control office.

 

SITE: The Barletta Natatorium contains a 6-lane, 25-yard indoor pool with non-turbulent lane lines, adjacent warm-down area and gallery seating for approximately 500.  The pool has fully-automatic Colorado Time Systems electronic timing with touchpads at the finish end of the pool and an six-line electronic scoreboard.  There are no touchpads at the turn end of the pool.  The starting end of the pool is 4 feet 0 inches deep; the turn end of the pool is 12 feet 6 inches deep.  The natatorium is located inside the Cabot Center, Northeastern University, Boston MA 02115.  Directions may be found later in this document.  Swimmers and spectators are not allowed in any other athletic facilities including gymnasiums, indoor track, weight rooms and training areas.

 

COURSE: Short course yards (25 yards).

 

EVENTS and SESSIONS: See attached list.  The Friday evening session will begin at 6 pm (warm-up at 5 pm); the Saturday and Sunday morning sessions will begin at 8:30 am (warm-up at 7:30 am); and the Saturday and Sunday afternoon sessions will begin at 2 pm (warm-up at 1 pm).

 

ELIGIBILITY: All contestants must be 2004 USA Swimming registered athletes.  Please contact the New England Swimming Office for registration information. ENTRY INFORMATION: Entries will be accepted on and after October 10, 2003.  Entries received before October 10, 2003 will be considered received on October 10, 2003.  Entries must be received no later than December 19, 2003.  Make checks payable to “Belmont Aquatic Team”.  Mail completed forms (including signed entry cover page and waiver) and payment to the entry chair:  Ed Conde, 25 Eliot Street, Watertown MA 02472. All entries must be typed or printed legibly, and must use full names and registration numbers from USA Swimming registration.  All entries must include a completed and signed entry cover sheet and waiver.  No refunds will be given for entries that are accepted, or for entries that are rejected due to improper entry.  Entries by Fax will not be accepted.

 

ELECTRONIC ENTRIES: Electronic entries (such as from Hy-Tek Team Manager or other team management software) that are in CL2 or SD3/SDIF format may be emailed as an attachment to the entry chair at epconde@comcast.net.  Please check that your team name, address, and contact information are listed correctly in this file.  For email entries, payment and hardcopy of the entry (including signed entry cover page and waiver) must be received within four (4) days of receipt of the email entry.  If payment and hardcopy are received within four (4) days of the email entry, the email receipt date will be considered the date of entry.  If payment or hardcopy is received more than four (4) days after the email entry, the date when both are received will be considered the date of entry.

 

ENTRY LIMITS: Athletes may enter and swim in a maximum of 5 events per session.

 

ENTRY TIME UPATES: Entry times may be updated through December 19, 2003 at 6:00pm.  No new entries will be accepted after the December 19, 2003 entry deadline.  Entry time updates should be sent via email to the entry chair at epconde@comcast.net. Entry time updates must be sent as Hy-Tek format CL2 files with updated times.  (New entries will be automatically excluded.)

 

ENTRY FEES: Electronic entries: $3.50 for individual events.  Non-electronic entries: $4.00 for individual events.

 

ENTRY TIMES: All entries must be specified in short-course yard (25-yard pool) times.  Meter times must be converted to yard times.  Entries with “NO TIME” will be rejected.  Coaches can use estimated times, which can later be updated as described above.

 

ENTRY CUTS: Entry cuts, if necessary, will be made by the date of receipt.  Teams will be notified that they have been accepted or cut from the meet within seven days of receipt of entry.  If the meet becomes oversubscribed, a random selection of those entries received on the date the meet becomes oversubscribed will be conducted in accordance with New England Swimming guidelines.  Teams that are cut from the meet will have their entry fee returned within four days of being cut.  For the Friday evening session only, the meet director reserves the right to cut events by time to accommodate the session timeline.

 

25-YARD EVENTS: 25-yard events will start from the blocks.

PROGRAMS: $5.00 for the entire meet.

 

ADMISSION: $1.00 per session.

 

WARMUPS: The pool will open for warm-ups one-hour before the beginning of each session.  The pool will close five minutes before the beginning of each session.  Teams will be assigned warm-up lanes after all entries are received. The diving well area will be available during the meet for warm-up and warm-down.

 

SHAVING: No shaving is permitted at the competition site.

 

RULES: 2004 USA Swimming rules will govern all competition.  Decisions by the meet referee will be final unless a written protest is lodged within 30 minutes of the heat swum.

 

All team and individual warm-up and warm-down shall be under the direct supervision of the respective swimmer’s coach, or individual designated by the referee.  There will be absolutely no diving in any part of the pool during warm-ups, except in specially designated sprint lanes.

 

DECK ACCESS: Only athletes, coaches, officials, and official meet staff are permitted on the pool deck.  All non-athletes on the pool deck must display their USA Swimming registration card at all times.  Individuals without their USA Swimming registration card will be removed from the pool deck, and will be subject to a fine by New England Swimming.

 

SCORING: The meet will not be scored.

 

AWARDS: Ribbons will be awarded to the top six finishers in each event.

 

FOOD: A concession stand will be in operation for the duration of the meet.  No food or beverages are allowed in the pool area.

 

EQUIPMENT VENDOR: A swimming equipment vendor will be selling suits, goggles, and other accessories for the duration of the meet.

 

MISCELLANEOUS: The Belmont Aquatic Team assumes no responsibility for lost or stolen property.  No glass containers are permitted within the facility.  Pets of any kind and smoking are not permitted within the facility.

 

Any swimmer whose entry is accepted will, for himself or herself, his/her heirs, executors, and administrators, waive and release any and all rights for damages he/she may have against United States Swimming, New England Swimming, the Belmont Aquatic Team, Northeastern University, Boston, MA or any of their respective representatives for any and all injuries suffered by him/her at said meet.

 

PARKING: There is parking in the Renaissance Garage building # 62 on map at 835 Columbus Avenue and at the Columbus Garage building # 65 on map at 795 Columbus Avenue. Parking is $5.00 for all day Saturday, $ 5.00 for all day Sunday, and $5.00 after 6pm on Friday. Before 6pm on Friday the rate is $3.00 for the first hour and $2.00 for each additional hour.

 

DIRECTIONS: Directions to Barletta Natatorium/Cabot Center at the corner of Forsyth Street and Huntington Avenue in Boston.

 

The Cabot Center is building # 41 on the map.


From the West (Massachusetts Turnpike): Follow turnpike into tunnel and take Prudential exit. Proceed westbound on Huntington Avenue. Barletta is located approximately three tenths of a mile on left at intersection of Huntington and Forsyth Street.

 

From the South and West (128/95): Take 128/95 to Route 93. Take Mass. Ave exit and take right onto Mass. Ave. Follow Mass. Ave through seven set of lights until St. Botolph Street. Take left onto St. Botolph and follow to stop sign. Take right onto Gainsborough Street and then a left onto Huntington Avenue. Barletta is on the left at corner of Huntington Avenue and Forsyth Street.

 

From the North (93 & 95 across Tobin Bridge): Take exit 26 (Storrow Drive, NO BUSES...BUSES USE Route 93 directions above) and follow signs for Storrow Drive. Take Fenway exit off Storrow Drive and proceed straight off exit ramp (follow signs for Boylston Street Inbound, do not bear right) and continue through three sets of lights to Mass. Ave. Take right onto Mass. Ave. and proceed to Huntington Avenue (right after Symphony Hall). Take right onto Huntington and Barletta is two tenths of a mile ahead on the left at the corners of Huntington and Forsyth Street.

 

Public Transportation: Take the "E" car of the Green Line to Northeastern stop. Barletta is across Huntington Avenue from the stop.
