MEET FORMAT: The meet will be swum as timed finals. Each session will be seeded by computer based on positive check-in at the beginning of each session. Coaches will receive a positive check-in sheet before each session, which must be returned no later than 30 minutes before the beginning of the session. Heat sheets will be posted around the pool deck. Coaches will be able to pick up heat sheets for each event at the control office.  The 1650 freestyle will be swum fast-to-slow, alternating heats of women and men.

 

SITE: The Andover/North Andover YMCA has a 6-lane, 25-yard pool with six-foot-wide lanes and non-turbulent lane lines. Fully-automatic Colorado Timing System with touch pads at the finish end of the pool with triple-line electronic display. There are no touch pads at the turn end of the pool. The finish end of the pool is 10 feet deep; the turn end of the pool is 3.5 feet deep. Spectator seating for 200. The pool is located inside the Andover/North Andover YMCA, 165 Haverhill Street, Andover MA 01810.

 

COURSE: Short course yards (25 yards).

ELIGIBILITY: All contestants must be 2004 USA Swimming-registered athletes. Please contact the New England Swimming Office for registration information. ENTRY INFORMATION: Entries will be accepted on and after December 23, 2003. Entries received before December 23, 2003 will be considered received on December 23, 2003. Entries must be received no later than January 2, 2003. Make checks payable to “ANA Hurricanes.” Mail completed forms (including signed entry cover page and waiver) and payment to the entry chairperson: Paul Bennett, Andover/North Andover YMCA, 165 Haverhill Street, Andover, MA 01810. All entries must be typed or printed legibly, and must use full names and registration numbers from USA Swimming registration. All entries must include a completed and signed entry cover sheet and waiver. No deck entries will be accepted. No refunds will be given for entries that are accepted, or for entries that are rejected due to improper entry.

 

ELECTRONIC ENTRIES: Electronic entries (such as from Hy-Tek Team Manager or other team management software) that are in CL2 or SD3/SDIF format may be e-mailed as an attachment to the entry chairperson at yhurricaneswimming@hotmail.com Please check that your team name, address, and contact information are listed correctly in this file. For e-mail entries, payment and a hard copy of the entry (including signed entry cover page and waiver) must be received within four (4) days of receipt of the e-mail entry. If payment is received within four (4) days of the e-mail entry, the e-mail receipt date will be considered the date of entry. If payment is received more than four (4) days after the e-mail entry, the payment receipt date will be considered the date of entry.

 

ENTRY LIMITS: Athletes may enter and swim in a maximum of 3 events.

 

ENTRY TIME UPATES: Entry times may be updated through 6 p.m. on January 4, 2004. No new entries will be accepted after the December 28, 2003 entry deadline. Entry time updates should be sent via e-mail to the entry chairperson at yhurricaneswimming@hotmail.com Entry time updates must be sent as Hy-Tek format CL2 files with updated times. (New entries will be automatically excluded.)

 

ENTRY FEES: Electronic entries: $3.50 for individual events; non-electronic entries: $4.00 for individual events.

 

SEEDING: The 400 IM, and the 500 Free will be swum fastest to slowest.  (All heats Women 400 IM, followed by all heats Men 400 IM, followed by all heats Women 500 Free followed by all heats Men 500Free). The 1650 will be seeded and swum combined women and men fastest to slowest with a maximum of 5 heats. Separate awards for men and women by age group (9-10, 11-12, Open).

 

ENTRY TIMES: All entries must be specified in short-course yard (25-yard pool) times. Meter times must be converted to yard times. Entries with “NO TIME” will be rejected.

 

ENTRY CUTS: Entry cuts, if necessary, will be made by the date of receipt. Teams will be notified that they have been accepted or cut from the meet within seven days of receipt of entry. If the meet becomes oversubscribed, a random selection of those entries received on the date the meet becomes oversubscribed will be conducted in accordance with New England Swimming guidelines. Teams that are cut from the meet will have their entry fee returned within four days of being cut.

 

PROGRAMS: $2.00

 

ADMISSION: $1.00

 

WARM-UPS: The pool will open for warm-ups one-hour before the beginning of session. The pool will close five minutes before the beginning of each session. Teams will be assigned warm-up lanes after all entries are received.

 

SHAVING: No shaving is permitted at the competition site.

 

RULES: 2003 USA Swimming rules will govern all competition. Decisions by the meet referee will be final unless a written protest is lodged within 30 minutes of the heat swum.

 

TIME TRIALS: Time trials will be offered at the discretion of the meet referee if time allows. Time trials are $5.00.

 

DECK ACCESS: Only athletes, coaches, officials, and official meet staff are permitted access to the areas of the pool deck behind the blocks, at the turn end of the pool and on the far side of the pool. Spectators must remain in the spectator seating area. All non-athletes on the pool deck must display their USA Swimming registration card at all times. Individuals without their USA Swimming registration cards will be removed from the pool deck and will be subject to a fine by New England Swimming.

 

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: Swimmers are to abide by the directions of the marshals. No swimmer is allowed to enter the pool or participate in warm-ups until under the direct supervision of a USS registered coach. All swimmers must enter the pool at the starting end of the pool. Diving will be prohibited during warm-ups except in specifically announced one-way sprint lanes.

 

SCORING: The meet will not be scored.

 

AWARDS: Ribbons will be awarded to the top six finishers in each individual event.

 

FOOD: A concession stand will be in operation for the duration of the meet.

 

EQUIPMENT VENDOR: No Equipment vendor will be available for the duration of the meet.

 

MISCELLANEOUS: The Andover/North Andover YMCA assumes no responsibility for lost or stolen property. No glass containers are permitted within the facility. No pets and no smoking are permitted in the facility.

 

PARKING: There is ample parking available in the lot in front of the Andover/North Andover YMCA complex.

 

DIRECTIONS: The pool is located at 165 Haverhill Street in Andover, Mass.

From Route 93: Take Route 93 to Route 133 East towards Andover. Follow this road for approximately 3 miles. (Route 133 becomes Haverhill Street at the Route 28              intersection.) When reaching Doctors’ Park on the left you are almost at the YMCA. After the lights, it is your second right (the Y is set back, but has a Merrimack Valley YMCA sign on the front lawn). If you go up to Route 114 (Burger King), you’ve gone too far.

From Route 495: Take Route 495 to Route 114 East towards Middleton. Follow Route 114 for approxiately 1.5 miles. Go to the third set of lights (Haverhill Street) and take a right. Approximately 100 yards on your left is the YMCA.
