New England Swimming Annual Meeting

Minutes from the 2004 Annual Meeting (Approved at the 2005 Annual Meeting, posted 6/13/05)

The Annual Meeting of New England Swimming will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2004 at the Wellesley Community Center, Wellesley, MA. Please encourage your team to be well represented. All members of the New England Swimming community are encouraged to attend. Please see the section below that details voting eligibility. Please note there is a new policy that requires that one coach from each team attend the meeting.

ANNUAL MEETING

9:00: Coffee and Registration

9:30: General Meeting, Budget, Election of Officers, Presentation of Revised By-Law. If you have an item to discuss at the general meeting, please contact the New England Office (781-449-0270 or office@neswim.com).

11:00: Meet Manager's Meeting, Meet Data Management. Teams running a meet (or planning to run a meet) during the next year are required to send a representative to the Meet Manager's Meeting. (Mariella Allard and John Barbary)

11:00: Officials Meeting. (Will include stroke and turn clinic for new and recertification.) (Please contact Dave LeBlanc at daleblanc9@aol.com if you plan to attend.)

11:00: Coaches' Meeting and election of new Junior Representative. If you have items to discuss or are interested in running for the new Junior Representative, contact Laura Matuszak (lmatuszak@smcvt.edu) or Chuck Batchelor (cjbandtess@yahoo.com).

Please put this meeting on your calendar and keep the day free for coaches and parents to attend the meeting.

REQUIRED ATTENDANCE FOR COACHES

At the Board Meeting on March 9, 2004 the Board of New England Swimming acted upon the recommendation of the coaches and voted to require that all New England registered teams must be represented at the Annual Meeting by a coach. Teams that do now have a coach at the Annual Meeting will be fined $50. This recommendation was voted upon by the coaches at the coaches meeting at the 12 & Under Age Group Championships. If you have any questions concerning this requirement, please contact one of the coach representatives: Laura Matuszak (lmatuszak@smcvt.edu) or Chuck Batchelor (cjbandtess@yahoo.com).

SLATE OF OFFICERS

The Slate of Officers is posted.

This Slate of Officers will be elected at the Annual Meeting. Nominations from the floor will be accepted. The Coaches will elect their representative at the Coaches Meeting following the Annual Meeting.

VOTING

Each team is allocated one vote. Each New England Swimming Executive Board member is allocated one vote. Each member of the Nominating Committee is allocated one vote. Additionally, the following individuals were named At-Large Delegates to the Annual Meeting and have one vote, approved by the Executive Board on April 13: Ev Crosscup, Jeff Johnson, Rick Osterberg, Harriet Kinnett, John Barbary, Mary Gentry, Rosemarie Meisner, Robert Fredette. No individual may vote more than once (i.e., a member of both the Executive Board and Nominating Committee may vote only once). All members of the New England Swimming community are encouraged to attend even if they do not have a vote.

DIRECTIONS TO THE WELLESLEY COMMUNITY CENTER
219 Washington Street (Route 16), Wellesley, MA.

From Route 128 take Route 9 west. After the second set of lights, turn right at the blinker (the sign says Route 16). At the light at the end of the ramp, stay to the right and cross Route 16 into the parking lot. Be careful, cars on Route 16 are not necessarily expecting you!

From the west, take Route 9 east. Exit at Wellesley Hills, Route 16. At the lights at the end of the ramp, turn left, cross back over Route 9 and turn left into the driveway which is just beyond the ramp to Route 9.
