Site: Smith College, Northampton, MA.

 

Facility:  Dalton Pool is a 25-yd. pool with six lanes, seven feet wide, with non-turbulent lane lines.  Raised seating accommodates 500 spectators.  Deck seating capacity for 250.

 

Directions: North and Southbound on I-91 take exit 18.  Take left (north) on Rt. 5/10.  Go straight to the center of Northampton.  Turn left on Main St. (Rt. 9) and proceed through downtown, bear right up hill past Smith College.  Turn left onto College Lane going down hill past the pond.  Bear right at the fork in the road.  The pool is on the left at the bottom of the hill.

 

Timing:  Colorado Timing system with full six-lane scoreboard.

 

Sessions:

Friday -     Session I (Events 1-10)            4:00 p.m. warm-up     5:00 p.m. start

Saturday -Session II (Events 11-40)       8:00 a.m. warm-up     9:00 a.m. start       

Saturday- Session III (Events 41-68)     1:00 p.m. warm-up      2:00 p.m. start

Sunday-    Session IV (Events 69-92)      8:00 a.m. warm-up     9:00 a.m. start       

Sunday-    Session V (Events 93-114)       1:00 p.m. warm-up      2:00 p.m. start

                    

 

All warm-ups: 12 & under only - 20 minutes

               13 & over only - 20 minutes

               Sprints (all ages) - 15 minutes (2 lanes will remain open for warm-up)

 

Entries:  Entries must be completed and received by Friday November 15, 2002.  Entries should be submitted on diskette using the HY-TEK program, with a hard copy of the entry enclosed.  Entries may be e-mailed using hy-tek, but they will not be considered received until the entry fees are received (rnewton@science.smith.edu).  You will receive email verification of entry receipt (PLEASE be sure to include an email address as requested on the team entry form!)  Checks should be made out to Orca Swim Club.  Completed entries and fees should be mailed to Orca Swim Club c/o Jill Newton 287 Main St. Easthampton, MA. 01027.  Seed times should be in short course yards.

 

Entry Fees:     All events: $3.50

      ($.50 per event additional fee if entries are not on a disk)

 

Entry Limitations: Swimmers are limited to five (5) events per day.  If more than one team's entry is received on the date the meet becomes oversubscribed, a random selection of those teams received on the date the meet is closed will be conducted by the meet director to determine which teams will be entered in the meet.  Teams will be notified 7 days prior to meet.

 

Eligibility: All swimmers must be 2002 or 2003 USS Swimming registered.  Complete registration number must appear on entry.  New England swimmers can register with Mary Riddell, 20 Cleveland Rd., Needham, MA 01292. (email: office@neswim.com)

 

Admission:  $1.00 per day                Programs:  $2.00 per session

 

Scoring:  Scoring is to 6 places.  Individual: 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

 

Awards: Custom medals for the first three places in individual events and relays.  Custom ribbons for 4th-6th places.  Individual high point scoring male and female will receive trophies as well as high point trophies for large teams (over 15 swimmers), and small teams (less than 15 swimmers).

 

Officials:  Volunteer officials and timers will be needed to help run the meet.  We sincerely hope teams will volunteer for timing duties based on entry size.  Please! List any officials who may be attending meet, on entry form; include phone numbers.

 

Rules:  2002 USA Swimming rules will govern the meet.

 

Special Instructions: Swimmers are to abide by the directions of the marshals.  No swimmer is allowed to enter the pool or participate in warm-ups until under the direct supervision of an USS registered coach.  All swimmers must enter the pool feet first, in the shallow end.  No diving or racing starts are permitted unless your full warm-up lane is in agreement.  Eight and under events will start from the blocks at the shallow end of the pool.  Glass containers are prohibited in the pool area and locker rooms.  Shaving at this meet is prohibited.  No shaving will take place anywhere in the facility at any time before or during the meet.
