Format:                        Timed Final Meet for 10 & U, 11/12, and Open.

Facility & Location:                The Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA), Buzzards Bay, MA is located on Cape Cod.  The pool is a 6 lane, 25 yard course with Keifer Non-turbulent lane lines including  Buffer zones and lane lines on outside lanes.  Starting blocks are at the deep end.  Colorado Timing with electronic scoreboard and touchpads.  Seating for 300.  The pool is located along the scenic Cape Cod Canal, one of Bourne’s major recreational attractions.  Fishermen, boaters, joggers, bicyclists and walkers all use the canal for recreation.  In addition, we are only ¼ mile from a marina and public boat launching facility and about one mile from Bourne Scenic Park and Campground.  The campground is open April through October.

 

Admissions:                 Admission charge of $1.00 per session.  Program with complete meet entries $5.00.

 

Entries:                        Entries will be accepted beginning December 10, 2002 and all entries must be received by Januaryr 20, 2003.  Entry Fees must accompany hand entries .  There will be no telephone entries and there will be no refunds after this date.  The meet will be pre-seeded (no seed cards).  It is requested that coaches get in all scratches 30 minutes before the start of each session.  Swimmers may swim up to 5 events per day.  Events will be seeded by time, with “No Time” entries being seeded last.  All entry times must be in yards.  E-mail entries will be accepted but must be followed by hard copy and payment within 4 business days; after 4 business days, entry will not be processed until payment and hard copy are received.  Please waive signature requirement for Overnight mail.  No fax entries accepted.  Updated times will be accepted until the Monday before the meet.  Updated times may or may not be reflected in the meet program.

Entry Fee:                    Entry fees for electronic entries (must be Hy-Tek or compatible) are $3.50 per individual event.  Entry fees for hand entries are $4.00 per individual event.  Checks should be made out to Friends of the CCSC. 

 

Eligibility:                    All swimmers must be 2003 registered swimmers with USA swimming.  Registration number and age must appear on the entry form.  Contact New England Swimming, c/o Mary Riddell, 20 Cleveland Road, Needham, MA  02492-3006.  Phone (781) 449 0270.

Results:                        Results available on Hy-Tek Meet Manager format.  Bring a 31/2” 1.44Mb floppy for results at meet.  After the meet, copies of meet results will be forwarded to participating teams. 

 

Awards:                        CCSC ribbons will be awarded to all age groups for 1st through 6th place (*8 & Unders thru 16th place). 13 & Over and Open events will be awarded ribbons for 13-14 and 15 & over.

 

Procedure for               The meet will be cut by date of receipt of entry.  A lottery system will be used to determine

Cutting Meet:                 cuts according to NE Swimming policy.  In the event that the meet is oversubscribed by the end of the first day on which the entries are accepted, the host team is required to conduct a lottery to select the teams which will be accepted.  The same procedure will apply in the event that multiple entries are received on any day after the first day that put the meet over its limit.  Otherwise, all entries are accepted by date of receipt. In the event that a meet is oversubscribed on the first day of acceptance of entries, non-New England teams will be cut before the lottery is conducted’. .Meet Manager also reserves the right to cut slowest heats from the following events in order to stay within the session limits: all 200, 400, 500 and 1650 yard events.

 

Special Instructions:            The 1650 yards will be swum fastest to slowest alternating girl/boy heats or combining heats to ensure completion of the meet session in a timely manner.  There will be a positive scratch for the 1650 yards. Swimmers must assert intention to swim by 5:00 PM. Each swimmer for the Fri. 1650 should supply a timer and a lane counter. The 12&U 500 FR is swum first due to the early Sat. AM warm-up for the age group.  All 8&U 25 yard events will be started in the shallow end of the pool (blocks are at deep end); finish will be by touch pad.  Swimmers are not allowed upstairs or in the Gym at any time inside the facility.  It is expected that swimmers will respect MMA property at all times.  No Smoking in the facility at any time.  All swimmers must be under the supervision of a USA registered coach in order to enter the pool.  No diving racing starts are permitted during warm-ups except in announced one-way sprint lanes so designated.  There will be no shaving anywhere in the facility. Stands will open at 6:50 a.m. on Saturday and 7:00 a.m. on Sunday.  Stands, pool deck and locker rooms will be completely cleared between sessions.  Do not park in front row spaces reserved for Mass. Maritime personnel.

Coaches Notes:            COACHES MUST DISPLAY APPROVED IDENTIFICATION AT ALL TIMES WHEN ON DECK.  THE MEET REFEREE WILL REFUSE ADMITTANCE ON DECK IF YOU DO NOT HAVE IT.

Concessions:               A full service food concession will be open and a swimming equipment vendor will also set up for Saturday and Sunday sessions. Please note -CASH and local checks only.for equipment

From the North – Take I-93 South to Rte. 3 South to Rte. 6 & 28 West to Buzzards Bay or take Rte. 24 South  to 495 South to Rte. 25 East.  Take Exit 2 off Rte. 25.  Directions continue underlined below

Follow MMA signs on rotary.  Once on Main Street in Buzzards Bay take a left at the only set of lights onto Academy Drive.  Proceed ¼ mile to MMA campus.  Turn right into parking lot just before gate.  Pool entrance is far left door in first building.
