MEET FORMAT: The meet will be swum as timed-finals.  Each session will be seeded by computer based on positive check-in at the beginning of each session.  Coaches will receive a positive check-in sheet before each session, which must be returned no later than 30 minutes before the beginning of the session.  Heat sheets will be posted around the pool deck.  Coaches will be able to pick up heat sheets for each event at the control office.  The 1650 freestyle will be swum fast-to-slow, alternating heats of women and men.

 

SITE:  Greenwood Memorial Pool, 69 Park Street, Gardner, MA  01440.

 

FACILITY:  8-lane 25 short course yards outdoor pool with non-turbulent lane lines.  Seating is available around the pool, bring your lawn chairs.

 

TIMING:  Timing will be manual, 2 timers per team, per session would be appreciated.

CUTS:   Entry cuts, if necessary, will be made according to NE policy.  Teams will be notified that they have been accepted or cut from the meet within seven days of receipt of entry.  If the meet becomes oversubscribed, a random selection of those entries received on the date that meet becomes oversubscribed will be conducted in accordance with New England Swimming guidelines. 

 

ELIGIBILITY:  All Contestants must be a 2003 USA Swimming registered athletes.  Please contact the New England Swimming Office for registration information. New England Swimming Office:  20 Cleveland Road, Needham, MA  02492, 781-449-0270, office @neswim.com. 

 

ENTRY INFORMATION:  Entries must be completed and received by Thursday, May 31, 2003.  The first day of accepting entries is Monday, April 28, 2003.  Entry should be submitted on the enclosed N.E. standard entry from or HY-TEK entry on diskette with a hard copy print-out included.  You can also send entries via e-mail to: IcCreamldy@aol.com. There will be no refunds or telephone entries after the above entry deadline.  Checks should be made payable to: Greenwood Memorial Swim Club (Or GMSC).  Mail hardcopy entry forms and checks to: Anne Monette, P.O. Box 647 East Templeton, MA  01438.  Seed times must be submitted in yards.  Cost for individual events is $3.50 + .50 if not entered via electronic, $10.00 per relay + .50 it not entered via electronic.  Time trials will cost an additional $5.00 per event (time permitting). 

 

 

ENTRY LIMITS: Athletes may enter and swim in a maximum of 5 events per day.

 

ADMISSIONS:  $1.00 per adult, programs $4.00 for the morning session (both days), $4.00 for the afternoon session (both days).

 

WARMUPS: The pool will open for warm-ups one-hour before the beginning of each session.  The pool will close five minutes before the beginning of each session.  Teams will be assigned warm-up lanes after all entries are received. The diving well area will be available during the meet for warm-up and warm down.

                        Swimmers are to abide by the directions of the marshals.  No swimmer is allowed to enter the pool or participate in warm-ups until under the direct supervision of a USS registered coach.  All swimmers who do not have a USS coach present must report to the meet referee.  All swimmers must enter the pool at the starting end of the pool.  No diving or racing starts are permitted except in announced one-way sprint lanes designated for diving.  No jumping into the pool is permitted at any time during the meet.

 

SHAVING: No shaving is permitted in the venue.

 

RULES: 2003 USA Swimming rules will govern all competition.  Decisions by the meet referee will be final unless a written protest is lodged within 30 minutes of the heat swum.

 

TIME TRIALS: Time trials will be offered at the discretion of the meet referee if time allows.  Time trials are $5.00 per individual event.

 

AWARDS:  Ribbons will be awarded for the first eight places.

 

REFRESHMENTS:  Full concession available on both days.

 

DIRECTIONS: From the North & South:  follow Route 128 or 495 to Route 2 West.  Take the first Gardner exit (#23). At the end of the ramp, which feeds into a rotary, take the first right underneath a railroad bridge, following the sign to 140.  At the first traffic light, turn right onto Elm St.  Follow until you come to another rotary.  Enter the rotary and exit it a 9 o’clock.  This is Central Street, which you will follow until it forks left.  You bear to the right at the fork, which is Park Street.  The pool is on the right.

            From the East:  Take Route 2 West and follow above directions.

            From the West:  Take Route 2 East, get off at the second Gardner exit (#23)

            Follow directions from North & South.
